Sonicware recently released the new 3.0 firmware update for their 8-bit synthesizer with looper, the Liven 8bit-Warps. This new firmware adds the following features:
- 6 new effect types; distortion, phaser, tremolo, ring modulator, auto wah, and reverse delay.
- Adds a new sound locking feature.
- Sequences can now be duplicated to double the length.
- Looping of chain playback now available.
- New preset drum sounds, 29 in total, that can be used with the new sound locking feature.
- There are also various bug fixes and improvements.
- This firmware is available free for all users here.
Here’s a quick video by Chris Lody explaining the new features:
All Black Limited Edition
Along with the new firmware, the Liven 8bit-Warps has a new all-black limited edition model available. From what I can see, this new edition makes the keys black rather than white and grey in a similar aesthetic to Dr Endo’s first personal project the ELZ-Play, which is also all black. The ELZ_1 has always had a nice monochrome look, but this new version is sleek for sure.
The standard version remains priced at $239 USD, whereas the new all-black edition is available for $259 USD.
It’s available for order through:
- Sonicware (Direct)
- Perfect Circuit (US)
- Thomann (EU)
