First look at the LOOPA by Ferluht

This is the LOOPA. The creator, known as Ferluht, said he’s spent the last year “lazily” developing a new synthesizer+sampler+looper. We’re happy to see a new portable machine, lazily made or not, especially one that looks to have as many features as the LOOPA does.

The LOOPA is a Raspberry Pi Zero based sound computer with a looper-based workflow. So far what we about the specs is that it will feature:

  • 4 loopers
  • ∞ instruments
  • Send and return fx
  • USB midi in
  • Line in and line out
  • Internal mic
  • 12 touchpads, in single octave
  • 9 buttons and 2 knobs
  • 128×32 oled screen
  • wifi sync
  • 5 hour battery

Very curious to learn more and see what the creator means exactly with the “∞ instruments” feature. Is this idea of infinite instruments, related more to the synthesizer or sampling side of things, or both? Ferluht has also stated that the project will be going open-source. For those curious the files can be currently found on Github. Opening up development to the community was a great addition to the Synthstrom Deluge, and happy to see this happening more often. I’ll be keeping an eye on the LOOPA for sure.

Here’s a quick video demo, and be sure to follow Ferluht’s channel to keep up to date.
