Loog’s portable Piano launches on Kickstarter

Loog, known for making fun 3-string guitars for children—and adults as well—has just announced the new Loog Piano. This piano is portable with built-in speakers and is aimed at beginners of all ages or musicians who want a good portable piano.

Two things that make this new piano stand out among the other options are that the keys “allow for piano dynamics, piano, forte and everything in between, all at an appropriate weight and size for children”, and the full power of the sound engine is dedicated to just the piano sound.

The Loog guitar was launched on Kickstarter in 2011, so it makes sense this new addition to the lineup would also be released in this same manner. This is also the 5th campaign Loog has hosted on the crowd-funding platform and hopefully indicates that it’ll be a smooth process for all who pledge.

Here are the specs:
  • 37 keys (3 octaves)
  • 18.92 inches (480.8 mm) x 7.5 inches (190.5 mm) x 2.71 inches (68.9 mm)
  • White keys width: 0.73 inches (18.5 mm)
  • 4.7 pounds (2.15 kg)
  • Built-in stereo speakers
  • Built-in rechargeable battery
  • Battery life: 3 hours
  • USB-C (cable included)
  • 3.5mm out / headphone connector
  • Solid wood side panels

If I had one thing to add, it would be midi out. It is of course mainly a beginner’s piano, but if the feel is nice and the build is long-lasting, why not have a battery-powered piano that can be useful as a compact controller one day? It does have a great look and I’m sure like me, you noticed the Teenage Engineering OP-1 in one of the images. Maybe you want a solid-feeling portable piano for your kids, or to add to a portable field setup.

The Loog piano can be pledged for $229-249 USD, and it looks like the estimated delivery starts in March 2023. For more information, demos, and to submit a pledge: Loog Piano on Kickstarter
